After an action-packed Berlin E-Prix, championship leaders TECHEETAH and Jean-Éric Vergne extend their lead in the ABB FIA Formula E Championship after nine rounds in the all-electric street racing series.
Nine out of the twelve rounds of Season Four have now been completed and the team leads the championship by 44 points and Jean-Éric leads the driver championship by 40.
“Another fault-free drive from the championship frontrunner. He has raced every week for four weeks now and has won three out of those four races and including a podium here in Berlin. He continues to deliver week after week.
“André delivered an incredible drive today. Starting from the back, he climbed all the way up to 14thin the first stint – served his 10 second penalty at the pitstop – exited 17thand then managed get himself all the way up to 9thand a much deserved points finish.
“We now head to Zurich for the final European race of the season to continue our title bid both for Jean-Éric and the team,” said Mark Preston, Team Principal.
“It has been an amazing day and a fantastic weekend. Last year this circuit was one of the toughest for our team, so we had to manage our expectations going into this round. I am so happy with the result, P3 is great points for the championship. Audi were untouchable today, but I know how it feels to win your home race so well done to Daniel. Every E-Prix makes us stronger as a team and I’m already excited for our next race,” added Jean-Éric Vergne.
“I started last and finished 9theven after serving my 10 second time penalty from Paris during the pitstop, so it was a fun race. All in all, it would have been nicer not to have the penalty of course but it was a good experience to start from the back and feel what that feels to come through the pack. What doesn’t break you makes you stronger,” concluded André Lotterer.
